The Food and Nutrition Research Institute (FNRI) of the Philippines, the lead government research institution for nutrition, technology, and policy development, participated in the East Asia Round Table (EART) of 19 January 2021. This was the first time that the Philippines participated in this regional platform. FNRI presented its project on Nutrient Profiling which is scheduled to be completed by June 2021. FNRI also agreed to participate in the Coherence Working Committee of the EART which is currently represented by Dr Demy Bongga, a Professor of Nutrition from the University of the Philippines with long experience in nutrition research and projects.
Furthermore, Choices had the pleasure to present the Choices programme to the Philippine Association for Nutrition, Inc., (PAN) a multi-sectoral organization of nutrition advocates from government, academia and the private sector. PAN and Choices agreed to collaborate towards information dissemination of food-based approaches on DBM where Choices is conducting an on-going study and on the Choices criteria for healthy foods.
