Following the recent onboarding of Hector Maglalang and Maebelle Anne Tiongson, Choices now has technical assistance for the Philippines, a Scaling Up Nutrition (SUN) Network member country.
As part of their workplan, they will undertake a stakeholder and landscape analysis of the past and present initiatives of the Philippines in the reduction of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) and the double burden of malnutrition (DBM).
The results of the study will be used as a basis for creating an appetite for criteria based nutrition policies, and the formation of a national scientific committee. This committee will develop country-specific criteria for food-based approaches using the Choices criteria as a guide to reduce NCDs and DBM. Hector and Maebelle have also started engagement with the SUN Business Network for a possible collaboration.
