On 15th October 2020 in Lusaka, Zambia’s Vice-President Inonge Wina launched the Good Food Logo of Zambia. The Good Food Logo was initiated by the National Food and Nutrition Commission and the Zambia Bureau of Standards, with support of the Zambia SUN Business Network, and with technical assistance of Choices International Foundation
In the Covid secure virtual launch, Vice-President Wina also initiated the national Healthy Diet Campaign. Referring to these two initiatives, she stressed the need for Zambians to adopt good nutrition and fitness to put a stop to the waste of human capital, as every year, more Zambians are affected by obesity and non-communicable diseases. World Food Programme Country Representative Jennifer Bitonde added that there is a need for national efforts to ensure that healthy foods are made accessible to all Zambians. According to the Ministry of Health Permanent Secretary for technical services, Dr Kennedy Malama, improved nutrition is a pre-requisite to Zambia's social-economic transformation.
During the launch, two video clips have been presented that explain the Good Food Logo to consumers and professionals, in particular from the food industry. The videos can be viewed here:
